Who we are

TahTech Ltd ("TahTech", "we", "us", "our") is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16864356), registered office 148 High Street, Swindon, SN4 7AB, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal data described here, and we are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number ZC205562. The information we collect

• Identity & contact data: your name, email address, phone number (if given) and postal address.
• Device information: the make, model and specification of your device, your answers about its condition, and any photos you choose to upload.
• Payment information: to pay you we store only the last 4 digits of your bank account number and the last 2 digits of your sort code — never your full bank details.
• Inspection data: the device serial number or IMEI and the result of any loss/theft check, once we receive the device.
• Usage data: basic information about how you move through our quote form, using a temporary, in-memory session identifier (not a cookie), plus the referring page and any campaign tags in the link you arrived from.
• Messages: anything you send us through our contact form.

How and why we use it

• To perform our contract with you — to give you a quote, buy your device, and pay you.
• To meet legal obligations — we are required to keep a record of your name and address when we buy second-hand goods from a private individual (this supports the UK VAT Margin Scheme), and to carry out anti-fraud and stolen-goods checks.
• For our legitimate interests — to prevent fraud, to keep records of quotes and their outcomes, and to understand and improve our pricing and service.
• With your consent — to send you occasional marketing emails, only if you opt in. You can withdraw this at any time.

Aggregated and anonymised data

We create anonymised, aggregated statistics from quote and valuation data — for example typical prices for a given device and condition — and may use these for market research, to improve our pricing, and in a future benchmarking or price-index product. This aggregated data never identifies you and does not include your personal data.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers we need to run our business, who process it on our behalf:

• Vercel — website hosting.
• Supabase — database and secure storage of any photos you upload.
• Resend — sending you emails.
• Royal Mail / couriers — where a device is sent or returned by post.
• A loss/theft-checking provider — to verify a device is not reported stolen.

How long we keep it

We keep records needed for tax and VAT purposes — including your name and address as evidence of purchase — for 6 years, as required by law. Other personal data is kept only as long as needed for the purposes above, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where our use relies on it. Some data we must keep to meet our legal obligations (for example VAT records), even if you ask us to erase it.
